We Love Being a Part of the Puyallup Community

Puyallup, Washington

Puyallup is a beautiful, family-oriented city located ten miles southeast of Tacoma. It is nestled in the perfect location, with a scenic view of the majestic Mt. Rainier. This city is named after a Native American tribe meaning “the generous people.” It offers high quality of life and is a great place to raise a family. Puyallup was known for its hops, berries and flowers and many events throughout the year pay tribute to its agricultural days. It is a happening place and features everything from parks and a shopping mall, to excellent schools and beautiful neighborhoods. AWR Restoration & Cleaning is truly privileged to serve this amazing suburb and meet all of its restorative needs. Here are a few reasons why we love being a part of this spectacular community:

Intriguing History

A man named Ezra Meeker founded Puyallup. He traveled on the Oregon Trail and arrived in 1852. He was accompanied by a whole town’s worth of people and
decided to make Puyallup their home and become its mayor. Puyallup grew agriculturally and became the country’s greatest hop growing area. Hops come from the hop plant Humulus lupulus. They are flowers or seeds that are mainly used in the production of beer. Meeker was given the title “Hop king of the world.” However as time went on, their crops became an infestation of hop lice and it destroyed it all, so berries and flower bulb became more prominent and still plays a role in the local economy. Meeker became quite wealthy from all of the hop production industry and moved his family into what is known as the Meeker Mansion. This mansion became the main hub for social and political disputes. This beautiful mansion has been preserved and offers public tours and history that is enjoyable for the entire family. Puyallup’s downtown also features a variety of older commercial buildings and vintage craftsman homes that richly represent the history of this city.

Great Entertainment

Puyallup is home to the Washington State Fair, one of the largest Washington attractions of the year. In fact, it is the largest fair in the world! It offers two annual events that are held in the spring and in the fall. This spectacular fairground consists of 169 acres and is valued at a greater amount of $54 million. This fair offers an amazing atmosphere for people of all ages. It gives a hands-on experience that brings awareness to agriculture, art, and the marketplace. This wonderful place to make memories is a way to escape the mundane and be entertained through fun, laughter, thrills, good food, and people from all backgrounds. The fair honors its traditions and offers ways to be creative and learn through fun and unexpected ways. It will satisfy your thrill through rides such as the Extreme Scream that is the highest structure in Puyallup, your love for animals through all types of animal competitions that are available, and your cravings will be met through all types of flavors and textures such as the fair scones that are spread with honey butter or  jam. Going to the Washington State fair will leave you saying, “Do the Puyallup.” It is a fair beyond compare!

Outdoor Play

Puyallup offers ways to slow down and take in a little nature. There are parks all around this area that are kid-friendly and offer space for a leisurely walk or an
upbeat jog. One park that is located at the center of the city is Bradley Lake Park. This park includes fishing areas, walking trails around the entire lake, covered
picnic areas, a massive playground, and two youth ball fields. It is the perfect place to bring a Frisbee and toss it back and forth with a friend. This park makes you forget that you are in the heart of Puyallup. Pioneer Park is located downtown and offers different monuments of Puyallup history. It is placed right beside the local library and is a great place to sit on a bench that is shaded by beautiful mature trees, a wading pool when you need to cool off and a grassy area to romp around in. Puyallup has parks that offer different amenities such as playgrounds, trails, woods, skateboarding and much more. These parks help create a family-oriented feel to the city.

Puyallup is a fantastic city and community to be a part of and it offers ways to enjoy life and family. However, this area is no stranger to rain and a great day can turn quickly when flooding occurs within your home through excess rain or a broken pipe. AWR Restoration & Cleaning is available to offer 24-hour services that can give peace of mind when an emergency strikes. We love being apart of and restoring the needs of the people in Puyallup.
